Crafty Individuals August Challenge

I made a little card to enter into the Crafty Individuals August Challenge.  The theme for this months challenge is “Bright and Beautiful”.  For full details of the challenge click on the Crafty Individuals dragonfly logo on the sidebar.

Here is my little card.  Have you got your sun glasses on! lol!

When I first saw the challenge, apart from Mrs. Alexanders famous hymn, crystals and gem stones popped into my head.  Those are things that I think are bright and beautiful and also gave me the ideas for my colour choices.

I really enjoyed making this card.  Normally when I make cards there is this little inner voice saying ” keep it simple don’t forget the postal charges”!  So it is really nice just to make a card for the fun of it.  The other thing I enjoyed, which was a surprise, was using bright colours which are not usually my first choice.

Stamps used: Crafty Individuals CI 265.

Well I think thats about it.  I am off for a cuppa.

Best Wishes Florence.

Stunner of a card Florence and it caught my eye as it’s so grey and rainy here that we could do with cheering up!
You have a lovely name too, the same as my dear Great Aunt who I remember so fondly.

A fabulous card Florence, the image and the colours are wonderful. As soon as I saw Bright and Beautiful I imediately travelled back in time to school assembly and started singing the hymn, I’m amazed that I still remembered the words as it was a very long time ago.

Hi Hazel. Great to hear from you. It is funny how certain things stay with you through out your life especially songs. If you are like me you can remember all the words to songs from years ago but then forget what happened yesterday! lol! Thank you for stopping by and for your lovely comments both of which are truly appreciated.

Hi Florence, a really ‘bright and beautiful’ card, love all the detail and embellishments. Beatifully coloured, makes me want to get my Copics out. Very generous of you for offering to send some of your braid to the lady in the first post. I agree with her over posting, when I make a ‘special’ card, I don’t think about the postage, Now, that song os going to be stuck in my head most of the morning, Thanks! Lol! xx

Hi Joy. Great to hear from you. I have seen Copics, they seem quite popular, but I have never used them. I feel quite mean now mentioning about the postage charges! lol! The last time I went to the P. Office, with 6 cards, he said that will be 20 Euros! (£19) I do however, agree entirely with you and Lisa. It really depends who you are sending the cards to. The only way to get rid of that song is to sing out loud and enjoy yourself! lol! As always thank you for your visit and your lovely comments.

This is absolutely beautiful, Florence! I love the bright jewel colours. I was like you, thinking of the harvest festival hymn from school! Didn’t seem like the time of year for it!!

Love that image, seen it before but not quite so brightly coloured – love how you have done it, and your choice of colours is great! I also like how you have linked all those different elements into the total composition.
Yet another brilliant piece of art from Florence!

Hi Marie. Great to hear from you. Isn’t it funny how some songs do that. I usually get Sister Sledges Frankie song. “I was walking down the street one day. When I looked up I saw a friend. Hey Frankie – do you remembe me”! lol!!! Thank you for your visit and your lovely comments.

I love those bright bold colours in your beautiful card Florence! Great composition too! Now I have that famous hymn in my head, I remember singing it in assembly at primary school. Our headmistress used to sing it very loud & high, which vastly amused us kids!

Hi Alison. Great to hear from you. You know! one of my vivid memories of primary school is singing this hymn in assembly. I remember the little square hymn books with all the pretty pictures on the pages. I am sure the ATBB hymn had black birds on. As always thank you for your visit and your lovely comments.

Hi Florence! I notice that your post is for August 4th but it is still August 3rd here in my part of the world so I feel so ahead of the game! Your card is beautiful! I love birds, they have such beautiful colors, you did a great job on this card! Don’t you hate that little postage charge issue! I say “what ever!” If I go through the trouble of making a card for someone special that I am putting in the mail, it’s worth the extra couple of dollars to send it… that is until I get to the counter and they tell me is $7.00 to mail my card! LOL! Oh well, it’s worth it, I always get a call when they receive it to tell me they love it so it is sooooo worth the price 🙂 This happens mostly when I send a card to my Mother-in-law who I LOVE so much! (she lives in England and I am in Canada) so I love to send her cards here and there just so she knows we are thinking of her. Okay, so I am rambling… back to your Fab card! I keep clicking on it and you have so many beautiful embellishments, I am particularly intrigued with the gold colored loopy material you used for the top? Would you mind letting me know what that is? It makes such a fantastic top boarder. I love it! The thread material you used under the birds reminds me of a nest, well done! As always, your creativity blows me away! Sorry about the long comment LOL! I can be a bit wordy at times;)
    All the Best!
    Lisa 🙂

Hi Lisa. No need to apologise for your “long comment” (your words not mine) as it always great to hear from you. I probably am being mean about the postage. However, I am like you. If it is for a special friend or parents then it doesn’t really matter. I am not sure what the gold fabric edging is. I bought it from a local habadashery. if you can’t find any in your shops and do like it, let me know and I will send some to you. As always Lisa your visits and comments are very much appreciated. Let me know about the gold edging.
      Regards Florence x
