Introducing Ethel. She is my entry into the Just For Fun Challenge. This weeks challenge is continuing the theme of black and white with the addition of silver. For full details of the challenge, the fab inspiration pieces by the Design Team and all the brilliant entries click on the JFF logo on the sidebar. This week is special over at JFF because my blogging friend Janet is Guest Designer. You can see all of Janet’s wonderful work on her blog Dash-paw (link on the side bar).
Ok, Ethel is being impatient. She wants to say hello!
Take a bow Ethel
It has been a couple of years since I made a puppet so it has been quite nice to get re-acquainted with them.
Ethel is made from scraps – material, dowling, small block of wood and chain. Her skirt is made from an old metal fruit bowl. Old lamp shades also work well. The flowers are made up from pieces of fabric roughly cut into flower shapes. I have used some sail thread for the strings but dental floss also works well.
For Ethel’s face I have used some buttons and made some glasses out of some scrap wire. Her nose is one of those metal hooks which I have glued on.
Her head is made from a wooden heart. I drilled holes around the top area and threaded some ribbon (recycled from last Christmas) through them to make hair.
Just a couple more photos so show she does walk and move
This week I have posted large photos. Really just so you can see how Ethel was put together. I hope you like her.
Have a great weekend.
Best Wishes Florence.

I have fallen in love with Ethel., she seems to be just as cute as the lady who made her! I can imagine her bow, springing around the hills of Spain, perhaps singing about the the rain in Spain only falling on the plain….She is totally cool and adorable! Hugs, Valerie

Florence Ethel is fantastic! Wow! She’s so much fun! (Glad I don’t have grandchildren yet) but what an amazing gift if one was lucky enough to have one! (Not that I am looking for one anytime soon!;) It’s good to be clear about these things! LOL! That is the sort of treasure one would remember and cherish for a lifetime!!!
Amazing as always Florence! It’s always so much fun wondering what you are going to come up with next!
