I have made a Vintage Style Ice Skate for the Crafty Individual September Challenge. For full details of the challenge click on the dragonfly logo on the sidebar.
This months challenge theme is “Hanging About” and has been chosen by the lovely Lucy Edmondson. You can find Lucy’s blog and see all of her fab creations by clicking on to the link True Colours on the sidebar.
I have used one of my favourite CI stamps for my project. It always makes me smile when I look at it and see the little bird in the middle getting squashed! lol!
This is my project
Size :28 cms x 23 cms
The skate decoration is made entirely of recycled materials. I used a scrap piece of 8mm ply for the boot which I cut out with my Scroll Saw (photo on previous post). I drilled holes for the laces, the chain and the holes at the base to sew on the wire. The wire came from the skip. The boot has had two base coats of black acrylic and one coat of brown. It has been distressed using PVA glue method. The postcard is made from a piece of cardboard backing from a used paper pad. The flowers are made by randomly cutting circles of synthetic fabric (old blouse and the lining of a skirt) and then blasting them with the heat gun. The baubles are from last years Christmas crackers and the chains and other embellishments are from old necklaces.
Stamp used: Crafty Individuals – Birds CI 230 and the small postage stamp is taken from CI 119 .
The method of attaching the wire to the base of the boot came from something I saw in Tone Finnangers Christmas Book.
I think that is about it from me so I’m off for a cuppa.
Best Wishes Florence

Love your Christmas skate decoration, so original, the lacing and the wire blade are brilliant touches. That CI stamp is gorgeous, but blow me I have used it a few times, but never noticed the squashed bird. LOL. X

Hi Lucy. I do remember Hectors House. I can remember one episode vividly where the cat and the frog played the game where they stuck the names of people on their forehead and had to guess who they were! Oh my word! I can remember that but can’t remember what day it is! lol!! Oh blimey I have got visions of the clangers, top cat and magic round about now! What have you started!
Thank you for stopping by and for your lovely comments. Great challenge theme.
