Decorated Roof Tile – JFF

I decorated a roof tile for this weeks challenge over at Just For Fun.  This weeks challenge is “Anything but a card”.  For full details of the challenge, the DT’s inspirational pieces and all the fab entries click on the Just For Fun logo on the side bar.

While Freddie is away I raided his shed and found some roofing tiles.  I know there are some I am not supposed to use and I am hoping this isn’t one of them! lol!  I had so much fun making this.

I used some relief paste for the roses.

It started life like this

This is where the idea for this came from.

This was also a bit of an experiment.  I want to use some of these as lamp shades for some lights on the wall.  They need to be cut in half really but  I am not allowed to use the angle grinder!  I was happy how it turned out but I think it needs something in towards the top right hand corner.  I’ll have a think about it.

I am off to get ready to watch Downton Abbey.   I have not done any shopping this week  so I have pinched all of the dried bananas out of Freddie’s museli for a TV feast!

Best Wishes Florence

Such an original idea and beautiful of course. Suspect Freddie could do nothing but forgive you when he saw what you have done with the tile. Would love to see it and it’s pair(?) on the wall when it is done. As ever thank you for sharing with us at Just for Fun XOXO Zoe

Hi Zoe, This was a usuful exercise to go through. I just need to make them out of terracotta tiles which are lighter in weight and cut them to the correct size but I will make a pair for the bedroom. Watch this space as they say! lol! Always great to hear from you. Thank you for popping in and for your lovely comments.

I was thinking too that if you were not allowed to paint it maybe you can seal it and let it be part of the roof,, that would be so sweet, you do lovely work.. c

This looks fantastic it will look great as a wall light shade. As for the top corner maybe if the rose was to carry on into the corner as a single strand maybe. Anyway I love it and hopefully freddie will not recognise it or miss his bannana chips LOL. I must get ready for Downton as well. Hugs Sandra XX
