Altered Book – CI October Challenge

I made an altered book for this months challenge.  I am a little late completing  this project.  I have been waiting for the leaf spray die to arrive.  Fortunately it arrived yesterday so I can enter into the challenge.

For full details of the challenge, the inspirational pieces and all the entries click Crafty Individuals Challenge.

This months theme is “Winged Things”.  I have some super CI bird stamps but decided to go with one of their new stamp CI331 and the script stamp CI161.

You know when you need something but no idea what! Well thats what happened with this.   I hunted everywhere for the right embellishment for the top right hand corner.  Something to contrast against the frill and fancy.  So late last night, as I was serching, I saw Freddie’s sandles by the door.  In all fairness they were looking past their best.  Well they certainly are now! lol!  So I cut the buckle off one of them, threaded some fabric through and  glued it on.

For the centre piece I painted a piece of board, stamped and then embossed it to make a  sort of faux tile.  The embossing never cracked!  Always does when it is not supposed to!

The idea behind this came from this piece of fabric

I spotted this at a local farmers market and bought it to make some Christmas boot/stockings with.  Really love this fabric.

Before I sign off, I just wanted to thank Jean and Malcolm for the stamp I used in this project.  It is the stamp I chose as part of Jeans blog giveaway a couple of weeks ago.

Best Wishes Florence

Hi T, As you know Freddie does not notice a lot of things. Remember the trousers the wrong way around! lol! He did however notice the sandals. Lovely to hear from you my friend.

Lol! Poor Freddie! What will you do next? The food from his mouth, the shoes from his feet…..!
I must say, it was the perfect embellishment though, for this beautiful piece of altered art! x

    Hi Florence
I love the juxtaposition of the feminine with the leather and buckle. A beautiful thought out piece of art.

This is gorgeous, and another winner, love the design, layout and black and white theme, all of it in fact! Another one sympathising with the long suffering Freddie, stealing the shoes from his feet, how heartless LOL. XX

This is perfect! Love the black and white and the flowers! Love that stamp! Made me laugh about the sandal – poor Freddie, it must be almost as bad as being married to me!
