JFF challenge – Art Nouveau

Over at Just For Fun this weeks challenge, chosen by the lovely Von from Messy Me, is Art Nouveau.  The ladies have made some amazing inspirational pieces this week. For full details of the challenge, Zoe’s, Von’s and Neet’s works of wonder and all the fab entries click on the JFF link above.

I stamped and painted an old place mat for this weeks challenge.   Inspiration for this was taken from the works of Margaret MacDonald.

I base coated the board with gesso and then  two layers of white acrylic.  I wanted a wash effect so I used some distress inks to colour.  I stamped the peacock lady and feathers using stazon.  I did stamp the feathers a few times using dye ink and then over stamped with the stazon just to make the border appear a bit thicker. I used some bronze relief paint for the lines and added a couple of blobs here and there. The lines are slightly dubious but as it is supposed to be fun there is no problem with that! LOL!  When using inks to colour in you will need a fixative.  I usually use a spray acrylic varnish.  The spray doesn’t seem to effect the stazon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  Happy Crafting.

Florence.

    This is so inspirational.
Art Nouveau and Art Deco are my favourite periods in history so I am always keen to see when crafters tackle those eras.
It is so lovely to see you be inspired by Margaret, such an influential woman herself.
I am sure this will have pride of place in your home.
