Sporty for a Man Card – JFF

Over at Just For Fun, Neet is continuing the man theme.  This week’s challenge  is “Sporty for a Man”.

I have made two cards but I am going to enter the first one into the challenge.

Can you tell I am not “a less is more” sort of person! lol!  I used all little bits of scrap papers and built up the layers from the bottom. I added some little numbers, cut from a calendar, to the cars to make them a bit more sporty. The bird has nothing to do with anything really. I just thought it looked pretty! Oh dear!

Stamps used: Music – Personal Impressions, Map – Chocolate Baroque, Compass Rose – Crafy Individuals.  I am not sure who manufactures the little car.

This is the other card I made

Again, I used lots of scraps and built up the layers from the bottom.  The centre of the compass is an old button.

Stamps used: True North – Paper Artsy, Compass Rose and Sailing Yacht – All Night Media, Large World Map and Script – Chocolate Baroque.

Out of interest has anyone else been having trouble with Staz-On timer brown ink??  I thought at first I had contaminated the ink pad so I bought another pad and that is the same.  Just doesn’t set/dry on glossy card.  Not even if I leave it over night.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Best Wishes Florence

  1. Both cards are lovely, Florence. I must admit, I also prefer more than less, and love how you have built up all the layers! Have a good weekend, Hugs, Valerie

  3. Wonderful cards love the racing jalopies and somehow the bird is just right. Your sailing card is stunning love the colours and layers and textures. Not had a problem like yours with the ink so cannot not offer any help, sorry. XOXO Zoe

  4. I especially love the compass. They are both stunning but the second is my favourite (but then I am biased towards boats)!!! x

  5. Wonderful distressed edges and I had to smile because like myself, even when making masculine style projects, we cannot help but adding pretties!!!
The numbers on the cars is so clever.

  6. This is terrific, I love it. There was a dodgy batch of StazOn reinkers at one time. Not had a problem with the ink pad in the past although now they are full of water, lol!

  9. Both these cards are absolutely beautiful! I do like the car one, the red just makes it pop… I’m also really glad you’re not a ‘less is more’ person, because the cards you make are absolutely gorgeous! Keep it up! Can you submit the first, and under Freddie’s name submit the 2nd? You deserve both 1st and 2nd place! 😀

  10. Your first card carries the word that just has to be used – this is “special”. I adore how you have built up the layers, all the different elements you have added, the music, the bird – and stitching if my eyes are seeing what my brain is telling me. Love the thought behind what you have done with the numbers – everything about it. You are an excellent crafter who puts so much thought into everything you do, nothing is rushed to enter into a challenge, everything is thought out and detail put into what you produce. I applaud you for it.
Love your second card just as much, shabby chic for a man, not many (not I) could do that and pull it off so successfully. Two stunningly beautiful cards.
Thanks for sharing your talent with us at JFF.
    Hugs, Neet xx

  11. Super cards Florence, the vintage car one is just fabulous. I can only repeat what the others have said – fantastic layering and detail. Love them. xx

  12. Florence, love your work as always. You have such wonderful artistic flair! I have never been a “less is more” person either. I always struggle with masculine cards but yours are fantastic!

  13. THANK YOU to everyone for popping in and for all of your lovely comments. They are all very much appreciated.
    Regards Florence xxx

  14. Hi Florence! I love that little bird as well! The cars and sail boat are perfect for masculine cards. It’s great to add scraps to cards, it creates such a fun vintage look! You did such a great job with these! Lovely!
    Lisa 🙂

  15. Both of these cards are beautiful. I was trying to see which I prefer and it’s realllyyyyy a hard choice. I think if I HAD TO choose, I’d go with the card with the cars but they really are very nice! I love your talent and creativity.

  16. It seems that when i comment from my I Pad on your blog my comments somehow do not appear ! So am re writing my comment. Both cards are sensational. The first one with those fab cars in those stunning colours and the second so delicate and beautiful. love the soft colours and great images.

    1. Oh Sweetie, how very kind of you to re-write the comment. I did check the spam box in case anything went into there. No doubt it is some where in cyberspace. Thank you Marie for calling in and for your lovely comments. Always great to hear from you.
      Regards Florence xx
