I am not sure where this week has gone. It’s time again for the Out of a Hat challenge. It was so much fun crafting with the Hatters last week. This weeks challenge theme is “Arches”. For full details of the challenge, to join in the fun or to see Sandra’s, Chrissie’s and Janet’s fabulous projects click on the OHC link above or on the side bar.
I have made a little “Bee Creative” book for this weeks challenge. I thought a bee hive was a perfect shape for an arch so that is what I went with. I have always been fascinated with honey bees.
All the pages are made up in the same way. I have used the heart die cut on the front cover. I also used the heart to give me the size of each page. I have attached some lengths of ribbon, which are partly hidden under the layers, to close the book.
Bee Hive stamp from Joanna Sheen, the bumble bee stamp is from Anitas, The flower and berry spray is from My Minds Eye.
I have used Prima papers on all of the pages to continue the colour theme.
The recipes in this little book have been taken from one of Delia Smiths cookery books. I typed them up and printed them off together with some of the word tags
The small B3 tile is from a game of scrabble that came from the charity shop. This little tile was really the idea behind this little book. To be free and creative.
Again, the recipe on this page came from Delia Smith’s Cookery Book. I just choose two recipes that had honey in the ingredients.
I cut the jam jar shape out of some pretty papers and added a frill and some lace.
All of the layers of paper on each page have been distressed lightly, around the outside edges, using distressing inks.
All of the pages are held together with with three book binding rings. I scuffed the edges of the covering pages (dark brown card) to give them a thicker appearance and to hide some dubious cutting! LOL! I have also stamped a little just around the outside edge.
The last photos shows how thick the book is. You can just see the mounting foam behind the embellishments at this angle.
Well that’s about it from me. Before I go I just want to thank everyone for their e.mails over the last few weeks. Freddie has been away for 3 weeks so it has been really nice to have a chat from time to time. To you all, you know who you are, I send lots of hugs.
