Altered Mouse Trap – Hatters Challenge

Morning, morning!!! Have you all got your mouse traps ready?? This weeks challenge theme over at Out of a Hat Creations is to alter a mouse trap.  Our lovely Janet from Dash-Paw came up with this idea as one of the challenge themes.

Here are my little altered traps.

I base coated the mouse trap with some craft paint, added a small piece of pretty paper and an image.  I then added beads and bits of bobs from my craft stash.

On this trap, I base coated the trap with some wine coloured craft paint.  I then painted on a coat of crackle medium.  When that was dry I added a coat of cream colour craft paint.   I stamped the little wooden leaves with a script stamp and attached them with some hot glue and  stamped the owl.

Happy Crafting.  Can’t wait to see your mouse traps…. sooooo exciting!!!!

Right I am off to catch up with my blog visits.  Tat tar for now.

Best Wishes Florence x

P.S.  I would be visiting if I could get the bloomin reader to work.  Will try again later.  Not sure if anyone else is having the same problem……. arrrrrh!!!!

Too many cats here in Thessaloniki . Fabulous creations and both so different , I love them and could just imagine them as wall art !

  7. Brilliant – absolutely brilliant. This is the BEST use for mouse traps. I just smiled and smiled when I opened your post. You are one clever girl. We use a live mouse trap to catch these little creatures, and I think you have created a better use for the regular type. Virginia

    • Hi Virginnia. Hope all is well. Yep, so many traps are the humane types now so I think these little horrors are hard to get hold of. I agree though much nicer way to use them! 🙂 Always great to hear from you. Thank you for popping in and for your lovely comments. Have a super weekend.

    • Hi Smidge, Hope all is well. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the email way but a lot of the blogs I follow are not wordpress and the e.mail notifications take hours to come through and some blog don’t have that facility. I dont think there is a solution. It just gets frustrating at times because I seem to be missing so many of my friends posts. Always great to hear from you. Thank you for your visit and your lovely comments. Have a wonderful weekend.

    • Hi Celi. Hope all is well. You know, we had a long discussion about these in our house. They make great paper clips. Personally, I think they would be better mounted on a larger piece of wood if you wanted to put them on the wall especially if you were using the spring back to hold things on ie shopping lists etc. I quite like the idea of just having them lying flat on the side board in the kitchen for notes and list etc. I dont know who thought the idea up originally but it is clever. A bit of lateral thinking!
Thank you for calling in and for your lovely comments. I haven’t forgotten the project and apologies for the delay. Have a wonderful weekend.

  10. That weathered effect on trap 2 is wonderful over the plum, and the little owl is perfect! What a great challenge (am still kicking myself I didn’t pick up the cheap mousetraps I saw in the Czech Republic…)!

    • Hi Alison, Great to hear from you. Thank you for calling in and for your lovely comments. There does seem to be a problem in getting hold of mouse traps so the challenge has been slightly changed since publication. You could make a faux mouse trap. Mouse traps are 4 1/2 cm x 10cm x 5 mm. The spring is placed 4 cm from the bottom edge. Maybe if you have an old spring or some wire to coil this could be added. We know this isn’t the same but we would love our crafty friends to join in the fun.
