Crafty Individuals May Challenge – Music

Hi everyone

Today I would like to share a project made for Crafty Individuals May Challenge.  The challenge theme, chosen by Joanna, is “Music”.

To see full details of the challenge, all of the fabulous inspirational pieces from the team and to join in the fun please click here.

I had so much fun making this.
I hope you like it.

It was pretty straight forward to make but if anyone is interested or would like to know more details, I have added instructions below.

To make this

Crafty Individuals Stamps used:  Singing Merrily CI309, The Crow CI 361, Large Wren.
Crafty Individuals Embellishments

The front frame

Take one half of a *book cover and using a craft knife, cut out an aperture to the required size and scuff up the edges to distress a little.
*please note the book cover I used was blue in color.
Apply some blue craft paint to the frame using a dry brush.
Again using a dry brush apply some white craft paint.
Stamp the music image, using blue paint, randomly onto the frame.
Paint the flat filigree corner embellishments with white craft paint and attach them to each corner of the frame using silicon glue.
Put the frame to one side for the moment.

The Main Piece.

Cut out a piece of ply wood the same size as the book cover frame and apply a coat of gesso and two coats of white paint.
Attach a piece of white mulberry paper to one half of the ply wood using PVA glue.
Attach a book page to the other half of the plywood again, using PVA glue and leave to dry.
Paint over the mulberry paper and book page with a thin coat of white paint and leave to dry.

Using a metal leaf embellishment and some Distress Ink, stencil a leaf pattern onto the mulberry paper.

Stamp the Wren, using grey ink, two times onto separate pieces of white card.
Out of one of the stamped image, cut out the complete Wren image including the frame.
Out of the second stamped image, cut out just the center square of the image (The Wren and Script) and color.
Attach these two pieces together using a foam tab.

Stamp the Music and Bird Background onto a piece of white card using grey ink.
Using a stencil, apply some Distress Ink to make the dotty pattern.

Stamp the Poe quote using grey ink.

Paint the Tree with white craft paint, leave to dry and add a touch of blue Distress Ink to the edges.

Assemblage

Glue the book cover frame and the decorated plywood piece together using PVA  or a strong glue and leave to dry.
Attach the Music and Bird stamped piece using glue.
Attach the double layer Wren piece using glue.
Attach the tree and add button embellishments using silicon glue.
Attach the quote to the bottom corner using a foam tab and a spot of glue.
Attach a piece of string for hanging purposes.

That’s all from me today.

Take care and have a great weekend.
Happy Crafting

  3. Ohh, I LOVE this, Florence! It’s so very ‘you’, and just so, so pretty. I can’t pick one thing out as the ‘thing’ I love most, because if you removed just one element then it would’t work quite so well. Everything is just as important as any other thing, and so the whole ‘thing’ works brilliantly. Love it.
