Parisian Beauty Canvas

Hi everyone

It’s time for a new challenge over on the Crafty Individuals blog. To see full details of the challenge, the fabulous inspirational pieces by the team and to join in the fun, please click on the link above.

Jean has given me the honor of choosing the theme this month and I have chosen “Face Value”.   I am thinking people, children, birds or animals…Anything with a face for your project.  So there is lots of scope for you to interpret the theme in any way you wish. I can’t wait to see your projects.

So excited!!!

I have chosen one of the Parisian Beauties stamps to use in my project.

To make this project

The Canvas

Base coat a canvas with two coats of Gesso.
Apply two coats of white craft paint.
Attach pieces of lace, netting and fabric to the canvas using glue.
Apply some texture patterns onto the canvas using a mask and relief past.  Household tile grout will work equally as well.
Attach any other base embellishments using glue.
Apply a coat of Gesso to the whole surface.
Apply two coats of white craft paint to the whole surface and leave to dry.
Using a sponge and Distress Ink add color to the canvas.
Use spray inks if you wish.
Optional: Apply two coats of spray fixative.

The Embellishments

Main focal piece – Film Strip

Apply two coats of Gesso or white craft paint to the laser cut film strip.
Stamp the lady image 6 times and using the laser cut film strip as a guide trim the stamped images to size.
Color the images and glue them to the back of the film strip.  You may need to trim them a little more.

Flowers

Apply a coat of Gesso to some cut out flowers or fabric flowers.
Color the flowers with a sponge and Distress Ink.

Using Crafty Individuals bird cage die, cut out 4 bird cages and glue them together.
Coat the made up bird cage with a coat of Gesso and color with Distress Inks and a sponge.

Stamp the ticket image onto a white card, trim to size and edge with ink.

Construction

Make up the canvas as seen, using hot glue to attach the embellishments.

Finishing

Apply more Distress Ink to certain areas of the canvas if necessary.

Optional: Spray the whole canvas with two coats of spray fixative.
