Hi everyone
I hope you are all well and enjoying the summer.
OK, it’s 9.30 p.m. and I have just checked the temperature outside and it’s still 39!!!
Maybe the thought of Christmas will cool things down π
This evening I would like to share a “Christmas project” I made recently for Crafty Individuals.
I have kept to traditional reds and greens, Christmas wording “Joy” and the number 25. The white paint splodges could be snow or could be just decorative. However, I did want to keep the design loose so that it could be used for other occasions.
The base is a piece of scrap ply which I trimmed to size, painted with Gesso, covered the front side with paper scraps using Mod Podge to attach them, a few paint splashes here and there and then applied a couple of coats of Mod Podge to seal.
The reverse side was painted black in this instance. I have made some other projects which I have covered the reverse sides with pretty papers. Both methods work equally as well. If you are painting the back, I would do this first before decorating the front.
To decorate the house, I used some pretty papers and some lovely photographic images from Crafty Individuals.
The plaque was made up as seen and the embellishments where attached using heavy gel medium. PVA would work as well.
Variation: I have used ply wood for this project but an old book cover or heavy duty card or board would work equally as well.
Crafty Individuals products used:
*A4 Sheet of die cut houses (includes 7 houses and a picket fence!!!!)
Crafty Individuals miniature image books People and Place 2
*Just to share: Jean Hardy from Crafty Individuals demonstrated some fabulous projects using these houses on the Hochanda Craft channel today 14th July 2017. The shows were shown at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. UK time.
Thank you for looking and Merry Christmas
Take care
Flo x

The first Hochanda Project from all of us I’m seeing in details tonight in fact, before going to bed π
Thanks for the loveliness of this little house make.

A lovely holiday project, Flo. I like the song lyrics title that you gave it, too – it fits!
Thank you Valory. Always loved the Madness song. Always liked Madness to be honest. A lovely blast from the past hey! I spent a few hours in the evenings this past week watching AC/DC youtube videos. The 70s and 80s music is still my favourite. “They don’t make it like they used to!” π
Hugs Flo x
What a sweet plague! I like the way you put all the elements together. I know what you mean about the heat. It’s been in the high 90s(F) with 90%humidity, so you can imagine that it feels like over 100(F)!! Hot and sticky! I thank God everyday for air conditioning. Stay cool, my friend.
Marianne xox
Thank you my lovely friend. Oh Marianna, 90% humidity! It must be like sitting in a sauna! You take care.
Hopefully soon, we can both be cool dudes!! lol! I have got the giggles this morning.
Always lovely to hear from you.
Hugs Flo xx
it is like a sauna…sometimes, if I’m outside, even my hands are so wet I can’t get them in my pockets! Your Christmas cards are keeping my thoughts on cooler weather – so thank you! Hugs,my friend.
Absolutely GORGEOUS Flo!
I don’t think I’d ever put that one away. I’d frame it and hang it on the wall.
The papers are perfection and everything just works so well together. Love it.
~ Cobs. x
Thank you so much Cobs. So pleased you like it. Cobs, I have sent you an email about the ATCs. Not sure if you have had it or not. If not, give me a shout. It probably got lost with all the luna commenting!! lol!
Hugs Flo xx
I shall go and check straight away. It might have gone to one of the other boxes which bloomin’ Outlook have designed and made everyone have – which confuses the living s.n.o.t. out of me. sigh.
I’ll be back if I haven’t got it, or I’ll reply via email if I have. ~ C. xxx
I got your reply thank you. Speak soon. Hugs Flo xx
FOUND IT! … and have replied.
I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED about this idea Flo. Seriously so. I’m all butterflies to the tummy excited – just like a child would be if they found out they were going on a plane to Disneyworld for the first time. Squeeeee! lol
great BIG SQUIDGES ~ C. xxxx β€
LOL! Yes it should be fun hey! Got your email and reply very soon. Just got to put my thinking head on so I can form sentences in the reply.
Hugs Flo xx
I have just sent you an email Cobs. Hope you can understand it. Hope it isn’t too confusing!!! π xx
Time to switch to water, me thinks. π

Awww… Another great one for Hochanda! I hope you can keep fresh (ish) maybe with a pool and/or air conditioning, 39 is pushing it… too hot to do anything but lay on a sun lounger, in the shade !
Hi Christine. I saw your comment come in yesterday and I was itching to reply to it. A pool….air conditioning!!! Oh I wish! LOL! As for the sun loungers. If I got on one of those I would never be able to get off it. Not from desire but physically!! Got the giggles now. Thank you for calling in. Always lovely to hear from you.
Hugs Flo xx
Love this. The colours are great, especially the contrast with the sepia of the image
Thank you so much. I am so pleased you like it.

Great card Florence. I think it would work well as a New Home card too. I love the white picket fence, always wanted one but never had a house it would look good with!
Thank you Pippa. You are on the ball today with all of these fabulous ideas. It would be great for a new home. Picket fences are so cute hey! Mind you think positive. If, you did have one, think of all the time you you would have spent painting it. π
Hugs Flo x
Florence, I’ve probably said this before, but you are so clever. Your ideas on this little plaque are lovely. I want that hanging on my wall, it’s so pretty. X
Thank you Barb. You are so kind. If I still had this plaque I would send it to you. Unfortunately, it went off to Crafty Individuals for promotional purposes. When I get chance to make another one, I will give you a shout.

39 degrees! Where are you for pets sake. Here in Mississippi it is going on 100.degrees. To hot to even breath.
Thanks for us getting together on this blog adventure, but you will soon learn I don’t know what I’m doing here.Have a great day or evening or what ever.
Hi there. Thank you so much for calling in and for your lovely comment. I should have wrote 39C. So it is just over 100F. Its cooled down today. It has been up to 46C / 114.8F over the past week. Mind you we are in the Spanish oven!! lol! I am so pleased I found your blog. Looking forward to seeing more of your lovely creations.
It’s 2.30 a.m here at the moment so I think its time for sleep.
Take care,
Hugs Flo x
Oh goodness..do you have the same humidity we have?
Hi, We are up in the mountains about 900M or 3000 ft above sea level so it is a very dry heat unless we have very low cloud which is rare this time of year. Normally its about 40-50% humidity.
Flo x
Sounds not to bad.
No, not so bad at all. Occasionally I will moan about the heat or when it is very cold but on a whole things a pretty good π π
Hugs Flo x
Lovely work, Florence! I’m signing up to see more.

I really love that little cottage. When I was little it was exactly the house I use to dream I would live in! Love the lime background and the red highlights bring it all to life. Beautiful as always π x
Thank you so much Kim π Hope all is well.

What an amazing collage! (I will definitely be singing this tune for the rest of the day… LOL!) You’ve created perfect contrast and a lovely vintage nature to these elements. Wonderful! Hugs, Autumn
Thank you Autumn. Lovely to hear from you. The music from the 80s is still my favourite π
