Friendship House

Hi everyone

I hope you are all well.
Thank you all for your recent comments on the blogs.

Is anyone doing anything exciting over the weekend? Any crafting?
I am hoping to get in the craft room and start a mixed media canvas. I have had an idea in my mind for a while and now I just need to start it but that is always the hardest bit!! I think I will slap some paint on a canvas and see where it takes me….

This morning’s project is another little decorated house project but this time I have kept it small and used a coaster for the base.

I thought this one would be nice just as a friendship gift.
It would be easy to pop a magnet on the back or a little hanging gadget.
It was made in the same way as the previous projects.
For this project I used Crafty Individuals house blanks, some miniature images from People and Places 2 and a blank coaster.

Thank you for looking
Have a wonderful and creative weekend.

    1. Thank you Ali. That’s fantastic!! All that hard work has paid off. I am so pleased for Beth. You and Graham must be so proud of her. Enjoy the celebrations.
      Have a great weekend.

  1. This is just so cute, you’re right Flo!!
I have some coasters from the shop, not used yet…
I will probably do something like that with them one day, maybe with my two little girls as I guess they really would love that.
Have fun with your canvas, and a great week-end, looking forward to seeing the result!!!

    1. Thank you Coco. Oh, Yes, what a great idea. You must use a photo of your little girls! That would be so adorable. I can already picture it in my mind. Would make a lovely stocking filler from Santa.
      Have a lovely weekend.

      1. Hi Coco, Have a great Sunday. Oh, its hot!!!!! Hopefully it will cool down over the next week. I see France is having the same problem with this heat wave that is effecting Europe at the moment. Hope you and yours are ok.

  2. Aww lovely coaster idea Flo. Such a fabulous idea to turn it into a magnetic bit of art.
GREAT work my fabulous artistic friend.
    Sending squidges ~ Cobs. x
(p.s. …. will reply tomorrow to your emails … it’s been a stupid few days here in Cobweb Towers, consisting of tyres, cars, hospital visits, appointments and a feeling of wanting to resign from the directors chair and run away to paradise island. Sadly …. Mr.C told me I didn’t have enough money to buy that island, but I could try for Whitechapel, on the Monopoly board.)

    1. Thank you Cobs. What is Mr. Cobs like!!! Monopoly indeed!! I did see a island and light house, I think in Scotland, for sale via facebook. Not too badly priced but you would need a helicopter!! lol! Look forward to hearing from you when you have time. No rush at all. I hope this coming week is more relaxing for you.

  3. Very sweet, Flo, and actually these would make delightful coasters (If there is a way to seal them). I’m creating,as well, this weekend, or this Saturday – but in writing – must finish this last book. I do miss art, though..very very much. But between a job and creating – well, you get what I mean. I’m looking forward to the day my only choices for the day are “hmm…what art project shall I work on today.” I’m still hanging on to that dream. 😀

Be well and enjoy more creating time, my friend,

    1. Hi Marianne. I am so pleased for you and happy to hear that you near the end of your new book. What will happen to Catherine?! Thank you for your lovely comments. These are quite 3D in real life. The photo doesn’t really show it. They look a bit flat. The design could be painted onto a caster and then coated with heat resistant varnish.
      Have a great week.

  4. A great project Flo. I can see that as one in a set of coasters, a coat or two of varnish should protect it. You could have fun personalising them with different pictures in the windows, maybe family members.

    1. Thank you Pippa. Great idea. A set of these would look great. Maybe 3 in a row attached together with little eye hooks. I like the idea of family photos. Maybe like a family tree or similar hierarchy. These are quite 3D in real life. I did use a Mod Podge to seal them which works well.
      Have a great week.

  5. Adorable! I love the grungy feel. I did intend to craft this weekend, and managed a few bits but nowhere near what I had intended!
I have seen your answer Florence (thank you for that level of detail) and I intend to try with the sprays I have (Lukas, Gerstaecker). Mr Stampscapes (I can’t remember his name) swears by Krylon crystal acrylic coating for ink on glossy cardstock, but I’m not sure you can get it in Europe.

    1. Thank you Christine, Pleased to hear you have been in your craft room creating. Good idea to try the sprays that you have first. Most of them probably have a similar spec anyway. Thank you for sharing the details.
      Take care, Flo x

    1. Thank you Sweetie. Lovely to hear from you. Hope all is well. I did start it and finished it and realised I had a painted orb in the wrong place which wasn’t good!! But had lots of fun experimenting 🙂
