Sea Scene

Hi everyone,

Today’s little project is a sea scene created using crafty Individuals new stamps. I have lots more projects, using the new stamps, over on my card making blog HERE.

The base was an a page out of an old atlas pasted onto a piece of thick packaging board. You can just see some of the lines on the atlas pages behind the birds.

I base coated the piece with gesso and added some relief paste at the bottom to give the effect of waves.  I then gave it another coat of gesso and painted it, with a sponge, with blue paints.

I added some paint patterns using stencil and toned them down a bit by removing some of the paint with a moist wet wipe.

When the paint was dry, I gave it a quick sand to highlight the paste patterns.

I stamped the birds with black ink but then didn’t like it to I painted over them with black paint.

I then stamped the script with a Archival Cornflower Blue Ink and stamped the postage marks with a grey Staz-On ink.

To finish off, I added some white paint splatters to give the effect of sea spray.

Crafty Individuals Stamps used:

Vintage Postmarks CI 481
A Flock Of Birds CI 478
English Background Script CI 161

Thank you for looking.

Have a fabulous weekend.

  2. Oh wow Florence just love this. I was wondering what you do with all your amazing art work. I have visions of every bit of wall covered in pictures and cards!

    1. Thank you Pippa. I will let you into a secret. Not much goes on my walls. I have to do the decorating!! lol! A lot of the cards go to Crafty Individuals for promotional purposes. That’s why there is a lot of sporadic activity and frenzied posting on the card blog when CI release their new stamps or there has been a show. For this blog, a lot of the projects are made just for fun and out of scraps. Some are kept and some get recycled.

  6. This is gorgeous Flo and I love how you’ve made the birds the star of the show. Your use of inks, stamps and stencils is absolutely superb and the white paint splatters just finish off this piece of art off perfectly. Crafty hugs, Sandra x
