Helloooo to anyone calling in today.
I hope you are all well and life is treating you kindly.
Today’s little project is a book sitter. Over the summer I drew up some plans for some winter projects. This is really a prototype to see if the plan I drew would work. As this was just a test I cut her out of some scrap pieces of MDF.
Now I do confess I am rubbish at painting faces that’s why I usually stick to birds and animals but I did really enjoy making it.

Thank you for looking.
Take care,

Wow!! Florence how wonderful is this, I absolutely love it. What a talented lady you are being able to make this little figure, and such a lovely idea to have her sitting on some well loved books. I think her face is lovely, Kate x

Thank you so much Marianne. I am so pleased you like her. I was really nervous about posting her. She was great fun to make and it was quite liberating as well really just going back to crafts I love to do and which I haven’t had much time for over the last few years.
Have a lovely weekend.

As soon as I read “book” you had me. Then “book sitter”. Who is this lady. Is she protecting her books> Or … waiting for an interesting character to slip out of a book and begin to entertain her.? Perhaps a book sitter is an obliging soul who holds your place in your book while you wander off to make tea. More book sitters please.

Thank you Virgina. You know, I think she is watching the world go by and capturing moments and stories to put in her own book. She is quite a curious gal this one! Maybe she will have the characters from her own stories sitting by her soon 🙂 Have a lovely weekend.

Book sitter… makes me think it’s an idea for book ends, with her sitting on the shelf of course! You did well with the painting too, she looks “right”. Adorable.

Oh Florence, she is absolutely wonderful, I love her. The face is precious, great job. I love the way you say “I cut her out from some scrap pieces of MDF.” How on earth did you do that? Do you have a fret saw?
